Omron recently launched its new NXR I/O platform that provides an IP67-rated, distributed connectivity solution. As a part of the fully integrated Sysmac platform, the NXR increases machine data collection with IO-Link and reduces wiring in machine startup and replacement.
In addition to expanding Omron’s ruggedized and IO-Link-enabled portfolios, the NXR bolsters the automation partner’s status as one of the few companies with a full offering from sensors to blocks to controllers. This is in line with Omron’s commitment to providing comprehensive, end-to-end solutions for a wide range of automation needs in any industry.
Ideal applications for the NXR include those involving a high density of digital I/O combined with space constraints, such as automotive tooling, assembly and machining and packaging pick-to-light systems and vertical form fill seal (VFFS) machines. By providing a top-grade yet low-cost EtherNet/IP distributed solution with IO-Link, the NXR improves diagnostics and reduces downtime for these applications. It also reduces installation costs with quick-connect cables and minimizes IP addresses for I/O.
Aside from IO-Link functionality and its IP67 rating, the NXR’s key features include LED indicators for diagnostics, a DIP switch IP address setting and thorough cable diagnostics.
Denso’s VS-050-S2 robots meet the strict hygienic demands to automation in medical device / medical product manufacturing processes and drug preparation. VS-S2 robots with sterility control for use in sterile and clean environments that employ H2O2 gas 35% density (dry/wet) and UV exposure. Cables and other connector panels are positioned on the bottom for easier installation in sealed and quarantine environments.
The robot offers a maximum payload of 4kg, a reach of 520mm and position repeatability of +/-0.02.

EX500 is a gateway unit to connect EtherNet/IP™, DeviceNet™, and Profibus DP® to SMC valves and digital inputs for sensors for distributed I/O system. With the EX500 decentralized I/O system valves can bee installed near the actuators reducing wiring, piping materials and space requirements. There is no need to set the address for the valve manifold and input units, making installation and commissioning easier.
Each gateway can control up to 8 valve manifolds and 8 input blocks, with a maximum of 128 outputs and 128 inputs.
EX500-GEN2 supports Device level Ring (DLR) and EtherNet/IP™ Quick Connect function. The gateway module has IP65 protection while valve modules and input blocks have IP67 protection ensuring protection against dust and washdown environment.

A robot that collaborates with everyone
Introducing the new collaborative robot “COBOTTA”. The human-friendly, compact, and portable design allows you to take COBOTTA anywhere, and automate tasks right away. No expert knowledge is required, making operation amazingly easy. COBOTTA will open infinite possibilities to address your needs, and realize creative, new ideas.
Collaborative robots do not require safety fences. The unique outer contour has no sharp edges, and consists of curves that prevent hands from getting caught. Sensors are built into the six moving parts for constant monitoring of speed and torque, to guar-antee safety from a function-al aspect (planning to obtain certification from a third-par-ty certification authority).
The main unit weighs approximately 4 kg providing easy portability, and offers a load capacity of 500 g. The integrated controller not only reduces wiring, but also allows consolidated control with other devices. ORiN is supported as standard.
Easy to Use
Equipped with a direct teaching function and an intuitive GUI for easy programming. An optional camera can be mounted to enable teaching using the camera.
The integrated controller is open, and COBOTTA’s control API is made public, allowing creators to develop their own applications in the environment they choose (055 version).
